As a mother, and future health educator I am aware of the
benefits of physical activities and proper nutrition. Once upon
time I would just look at a cake and lose 5lbs. However, those days are
long gone and those pounds are sticking like carpenter’s glue.
There are several challenges that impede my progress of consistent
exercise and proper nutrition. Time is the biggest challenge and stress. My obstacles feed of each other. By the time I leave work, pick up the kids and prepare dinner it is
time for homework. I often get stress out, forget to exercise and then get a piece of cake. (Ok, 2 slices).

In the future, I plan to practice what I preach... I need to find the time to consistently work out within my schedule. I will pass up the bakery isle and purchase healthier options. In the future, I see these challenges being less of a hindrance to my goals. Acknowledge my challenges and taken the realistic steps to change will be beneficial over the next five years.
Hi Almostthere3,
ReplyDeleteYour post is funny because I can truly relate to what you are saying. Just a few years ago, I was the same, I ate what I want, stayed out late, and can drink anything without any worries. But now it is a different story, I can just breathe some of the good stuff and gain weight. I don't even have to look at it. (LOL) I just know that our metabolism slows down as we age, and although it is not fair, it is life. I also learned to set up realistic goals in life because it will help me accomplish these goals even more when I do. I know I can and I know I will, just need time to get there. Great post!
Thank you,
Dana Anderson
Danadane, I know.. I was not prepared for this slow metabolism thing. Couple months ago, my son took a picture and said "hey, this girl is hot!" First thought I had was " what girl's picture does dad have ? So I grab it to see, It was Me at 24 in a swimsuit.. I told my son thats me. He opened his mouth, and asked " what happened", then backed up..
ReplyDeleteI didnot know what was worse, Me not thinking that HOT Girl was me or the what happened question?.. I put that picture on the fridge and I dropped 40lbs..
I think almost any women no matter what can relate! Time is a huge factor for most people who dont work out but somehow, you have to make it work. It WILL make a difference in the way you feel and I can guarantee it will relieve some stress. Sit down one night and figure out what days you can start working out. I have found that walking for 20 minutes after dinner is a good time. And the weekend are great for getting out and doing something fun! Take your kids and go play football or dodge ball in the yard or street. Its fun and you get your kids involved. Hopefully you will make a change soon, because honestly, you deserve it. As a mom, you deserve some time to take care of you for both your sake and your children's. Plus, as their role model, they will see that you did it and when they get older, they will know... if mom did it so can I.
